Go-Kart! Woo Hoo!

Papa asked me to get ready and go inside the car without telling me where we were going. I thought we were going to Johor - a very impossible idea - as I realized that the familiar route Papa usually take if we’re going back to Johor.

Soon, Papa arrived at the Go-Kart track. I was very scared as I saw some adults driving very fast. And my first try around the bend was ridiculous! - I didn’t turn enough to the right so I ran into the tyre barriers. I was afraid that I would crash so in the first round I didn’t step on the throttle at all but by the second round, I was a bit faster.dscn1401.jpg

dscn1399.jpg

After the first round, the man there didn’t let me drive straight to the second round because the adults were racing at a very fast speed and because I was too slow, they were scared that there would be an accident because being slow, I would obstruct them.

On the second round, I was faster. Papa said, if I did the same pace as the first round, Papa would have slept there and then because I was too slow.

Go-Kart is so much fun!!!

This a great way to spend my Merdeka day, a new achievement for me!!!

Fireworks for Merdeka 50th Anniversary

Yesterday, or some people say today, Papa brought me to watch fireworks in Dataran Merdeka. To watch the fireworks, Papa drove up in front of the Kuala Lumpur Mayor’s house instead.

girl-girl-enterprise.jpg

We arrived there about 10 minutes before midnight and Papa talked a bit with a German family who lives here. While waiting, Mama said to sit down first. Papa tested the Nikon camera so that if we see the fireworks he knows what to do.

We waited….

and waited….

and waited….

for over an hour but no fireworks. In the shopping malls, the fireworks had begun from the time we came.

Soon, Papa declared that the fireworks are over and we were to go home. As soon as we were about to open the car door and step into car, the fireworks started!girl-girl-watching-fireworks-display-1am.jpg

And it lasted for only 3 minutes…

So much for waiting!

Harry Potter

Joanne K. Rowling made this fascinating book or the ‘Harry Potter’ series. Its about a boy, soon came to know he was a wizard, who went to ‘Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy’ along with friends he met on the ‘Hogwarts Express’, Ronald ‘Ron’ Weasley and Hermione Granger. I love Harry Potter so much that I joined his forum, Harry Potter Forums.

Once they sat foot in the castle, they were instructed to put on the ‘Sortiing Hat’ to sort them in houses, the brave Gryffindors, cunning Slytherins, the just and loyal Hufflepuffs and the wise Ravenclaws. Their symbols and colours are a red lion for Gryffindor, a green serpent is the Slytherin’s, Hufflepuff is a yellow badger and finally a blue raven, for no other, then Ravenclaw.

Harry, Hermione and Ron are in Gryffindor. Their enemy, Draco Malfoy, is in Slytherin. He and Harry met in Diagon Alley while buying robes for their school uniform.

They each are required to wear the school uniform with the house robes, certain magic books, a cauldron, a pet, either a cat, toad or owl and the most important tool, a wand. It is said that the wand chooses its owner. Most of the students buy owls because they can send messages to another person wherever he or she is.

Hogwarts is an amazing school with loads of corridors to explore. As for Harry, he has the best experiences in the school. He, every year, fights with Voldemort, the wizard who killed his parents when he was a baby. Voldemort, also known as You-Know-Who and He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, because everyone is afraid of him, tried to kill Harry but failed because of a lightning-shaped scar on his forhead which made Voldemort became weak. Now, Voldemort is doing everything to gain back his powers and kill Harry. But, however Voldemort tried to kill him, Harry will always succeed while doing homework and attending Quidditch practices. Harry is the Seeker, the person who can catch a very tiny golden ball with wings, called the Golden Snitch. If he finds it, he will win 150 points for his team. If they win every match, they will win the Quidditch Cup in the end if the year.

The house with the most points will win the House Cup in the end of the year. For each house, a teacher is the head and will get something if his/her house wins that Cup. For Gryffindor, is Professor McGonagall. Slytherin is Professor Snape, for Ravenclaw is Professor Sprout and Hufflepuff is Mrs. Trewlaney.

I have typed too much about Harry Potter but I just can’t get enough of Joanne Rowling’s books!

*Quidditch - quidditch is a game on broomsticks. It is sort-of like basketball or broomsticks with 7 players from each team/house.

My Merdeka Hat

I did this hat for a competition in school. I made it out of paper and magic pens. The best one will get a hamper or something as a prize.

dscn1382.jpgdscn1381.jpgNote the “Jalur Gemilang” at the background, taken from my parents’ bedroom

The one I did almost won but as the teacher said this:

[my hat]

“Oh look! Okay, this is one of the…”

[picks up another hat]

“Eh, this one looks better right? Okay, so this is first, this is second and this is third.”

And I lost. But I was happy for my friend though, Goh Xin Yen, the 1st prize winner. Hers is similar to mine, only much neater. The second prize went to this guy, Travis Tan. His hat was like the bear-skinned one that is being wear by the red coat Buckingham Palace guards in London with streamers. The third is a graduation like but instead of flat, its chef-hat-shaped made by a Malay boy called Sirajulmunir.

Well, I guess I’ll have to work harder next time!

As for now, “Keranamu, Malaysia” and “Selamat Menyambut Hari Kemerdekaan ke 50“.

The Blog-house do

Today was the ‘Bangsa Malaysia Campaign’ day at the Blog-house. I met one of the blogger who made me ‘famous’, YB (Yang ‘Berblog’) Jeff Ooi. Other blogs were also there for example ShanghaiStephen, Galadriel, Aunty Nuraina, I am a Malaysian and SK.

Uncle Rocky and Uncle Bernard were two of the speakers in front. Uncle Bernard talked about how his life was before Malaysia was Merdeka. Uncle Rocky, instead, asked 6 volunteers, including me, to read passages from Usman Awang’s unpublished work about “Untuk Malaya Merdeka”.

dscn1351.jpg

dscn1355.jpg

Then the other speakers had their turn to talk but I was only half listening because I was pre-occupied with my currypuffs. After enjoying that, Papa asked me to sign the ‘Bangsa Malaysia’ poster. I was one of the first few to sign.

dscn1356.jpg

Later, it was already dark and Papa wanted to ‘lepak’ inside. We ate some chicken satay and some ‘nasi lemak’. The ‘nasi lemak was delicious though…

Uncle Rocky was called to officiate the National Alliance of Bloggers clubhouse, “The Blog-house“. It is a nice corner house with a lot of space and there was a huge plasma tv in the lounge.

Soon I was asked to introduced myself but I didn’t want to because I had stage fright and doubted that I will overcome that. So anyway, Papa introduced me instead. Then, we saw a presentation on Merdeka, I think. Then again, I was asked to lead in the singing of ‘Negaraku’ but I, again, refused because of the same reason I said earlier.

Afterwards, it was entertaining time! Papa recited a poem called “Tanah Air” by Usman Awang, in commemoration of Merdeka celebrations and Jeff Ooi read his own poem. Other people played the guitar and sang, like Amin (I was told his blog is Black In Korea) and also Azmi, though I don’t know who they are.

bm4.jpg

Finally, we were given candles to hold and recite the national pledge that I was invited to recite, but then again, I refused… This was the pledge anyway:

Maka kami rakyat Malaysia berikrar akan menempukan seluruh tenaga dan usaha kami untuk mencapai cita-cita tersebut. Berdasarkan atas prinsip-prinsip yang berikut:

Kepercayaan Kepada Tuhan

Kesetiaan Kepada Raja dan Negara

Keluruhan Perlembagaan

Kedaulatan Undang-Undang

Kesopanan dan Kesusilaan

Being Malaysian

I am a Malaysian. I was born in 17 July, 1996 in Petaling Jaya. I have been born at a time which I call ‘no-longer in British hands’. I am lucky not to be born when British had Malaysia as a colony, like my grandparents had.

I go to school here and I have lots of Malay, Chinese, Indian and even Kadazan friends here in Malaysia. Also American, British and Danish ones too. I have a friend who lives in Scotland and he loves Malaysia a lot.

dscn0859.jpgdscn0947.jpg

Even though I am a Malay, I have Chinese best friends too.

dscn0471.jpg

Malaysia is a beautiful place. A few of its attractions is the Eye on Malaysia, the Petronas Twin Towers and the KL Tower. These are beautiful buildings but Mama and I won’t be bothered to go to KLCC because theres always too many people so parking and traffic or more likely ‘people’ jam is out of the subject. We also hardly go to the KL Tower but on special occasions such as Atok and Wan’s wedding anniversary, Papa will book a table for us.

dscn0918.jpg

petronas-twin-towers.jpg kl-tower.jpg

There nice and beautiful places to visit in Malaysia, like recently when I revisited Sabah. There are also a variety of very nice food, anywhere in Malaysia.

dscn0814.jpgdscn1105.jpg

My parents took me places all over Malaysia, like Johor Bahru, Muo, Melaka, Port Dickson, Kuantan, Ipoh, Cameron Highlands, Penang, Alor Star and Langkawi.

dscn0393.jpgdscn0684.jpgdscn0834.jpg

Other then that, the Malay language is the national language in Malaysia, although I don’t master it - I get all the Bahasa Malaysia exams all B’s. Islam is the national religion of Malaysia so the national ‘costume’ is the baju Melayu and the baju kurung and of course the majority ethnic group is the Malays.

dscn0972.jpg

Of course I am a Muslim and I am required to do like other Muslims. I completed my Al Quran exactly on my ninth birthday. My parents told me the official religion for Malaysia is Islam and other people are free to worship other faith freely.

dscn0428.jpg

I am lucky that I recently started to read Lat and I understand more about Malaysians and Malaysia. Its almost too funny all the time!

malaysian-flag-1.jpg

By being Malaysian, this is my pledge:

Maka kami, rakyat Malaysia, berikrar, akan menempukan, seluruh tenaga, dan usaha kami, untuk mencapai, cita-cita tersebut, berdasarkan, atas prinsup-prinsip yang berikut:-

Kepercayaan Kepada Tuhan

Kesetiaan Kepada Raja dan Negara

Keluhuran Perlembagaan

Kedaulatan Undang-Undang

Kesopanan dan Kesusilaan

I’ve been overseas a few times, infact almost every year. I enjoyed the all trips abroad. Whenever I see a Malaysian flag or a Malaysian symbol when I am abroad, like the logo of Malaysian Airlines, I feel very happy and proud. Whenever I step in to a Malaysia Airlines aeroplane, I feel the smell, feeling and warmth of Malaysia already and looking forward to coming back to Malaysia.

b747-mas-ii.jpg

My mother drives a national car, the Proton Satria and I am very proud of that. I am also proud of my permanent home, in Malaysian soil.

dscn1193.jpg

Now, we are going to celebrate the 50th year Malaysia was released from the British hands and I am really happy!

The Girl is Mine by Michael Jackson

[1st Verse (Michael)]
Every Night She Walks Right In My Dreams
Since I Met Her From The Start
I’m So Proud I Am The Only One
Who Is Special In Her Heart

[Chorus]
The Girl Is Mine
The Doggone Girl Is Mine
I Know She’s Mine
Because The Doggone Girl Is Mine

[2nd Verse (Paul)]
I Don’t Understand The Way You Think
Saying That She’s Yours Not Mine
Sending Roses And Your Silly Dreams
Really Just A Waste Of Time

[Chorus]
Because She’s Mine
The Doggone Girl Is Mine
Don’t Waste Your Time
Because The Doggone Girl Is Mine

[Bridge (Paul)]
I Love You More Than He
(Take You Anywhere)

[Michael]
But I Love You Endlessly
(Loving We Will Share)

[Michael & Paul]
So Come And Go With Me
To One Town

[Michael]
But We Both Cannot Have Her
So It’s One Or The Other
And One Day You’ll Discover
That She’s My Girl Forever And Ever

[3rd Verse (Paul)]
I Don’t Build Your Hopes To Be Let Down
‘Cause I Really Feel It’s Time

[Michael]
I Know She’ll Tell You I’m The One For Her
‘Cause She Said I Blow Her Mind
Chorus (Michael)
The Girl Is Mine
The Doggone Girl Is Mine
Don’t Waste Your Time
Because The Doggone Girl Is Mine

[Michael & Paul]
She’s Mine, She’s Mine
No, No, No, She’s Mine
The Girl Is Mine, The Girl Is Mine
The Girl Is Mine, The Girl Is Mine

[Paul]
The Girl Is Mine, (Yep) She’s Mine
The Girl Is Mine, (Yep) She’s Mine

[Michael]
Don’t Waste Your Time
Because The Doggone Girl Is Mine
The Girl Is Mine, The Girl Is Mine

[Paul]
Michael, We’re Not Going To Fight About This, Okay

[Michael]
Paul, I Think I Told You, I’m A Lover Not A Fighter

[Paul]
I’ve Heard It All Before, Michael
She Told Me That I’m Her Forever Lover, You Know, Don’t You Remember

[Michael]
Well, After Loving Me, She Said She Couldn’t Love Another

[Paul]
Is That What She Said

[Michael]
Yes, She Said It, You Keep Dreaming

[Paul]
I Don’t Believe It

[Michael & Paul]
The Girl Is Mine (Mine, Mine, Mine)

Ten Differences between Mama and Papa

One, Papa go for ‘meetings’ in the middle of the night. Mama go to meetings in the middle of the day.

Two, Papa don’t bother or is too lazy to write his plans on paper or tell us his plans. All are done in his head! Mama writes everything in her planner and mind mapping everything she does.

Three, Papa just watch anything on tv and he is a tv addict. Mama watches only her favorites such as Grey’s Anatomy and Desperate Housewives.

Four, Papa plans all the traveling. Mama doesn’t like travel-planning.

Five, Papa play the ‘piano’. Mama sleeps.

Six, whenever Papa says goodbye we have to wait for another 15 minutes before actually leaving. Mama says ‘Goodbye’ and leave.

Seven, Papa watches classics and true story war-ish movies. Mama watches my favourite movies.

Eight, Papa buy me classic music cds. Mama buy me the ‘in’ artists’ music cds.

Nine, Papa doesn’t let me buy my movie cds. Mama let me buy my movie cds.

Ten, Papa is a man. Mama is a woman.

I love them both!

Lat Was Here

Papa just bought me a book called ‘Lat Was Here’. He wanted to introduce me to Lat. He just bought all 9 Lat books from Borders, in The Curve. I just started but after even 5 pages, I couldn’t stop laughing! Imagine, which hospital would ask the physiotherapy patients to walk in this ‘lorong’ and pay a toll??? I mean with the bandages there and here, and some will find it hard to walk……who would do such a thing?

dscn1224.jpg

I know who, the doctor in the real life Lat’s head. The other laugh-my-head-off cartoon goes like this:

Narration: Dr. Ling Liong Sik goes to work.

dscn1225.jpg

That guy is the ‘Dr. Ling Liong Sik’ and he is saying: “HALO! I’ll be late to office this morning! AA! Too many passengers laaa. AI YAAAA!!!”

That isn’t very relaxing for be because I have too use so much energy to laugh at the comics and I can’t help myself.

dscn1207.jpg

Papa says Lat is very old and the writer drew himself. His name isn’t actually Lat but his father called him ‘bulat’ because he is a rounded guy. The nickname from that nickname is Lat so that was how Lat was called, well, Lat. His comics are HILARIOUS! I’m sure you all know that. Papa said he would buy me a whole collection….yay me!

My School Rocks!

Well, actually my school don’t rock but a ‘thing’ which includes dancing, singing and High School Musical, the new ‘in’ movie. It is a dance competition from schools all over Malaysia to one of the songs from the movie. I am not in the group from my school, even though I want too, because I know we would get into trouble from the teachers because we will be skipping class to rehearse. My friend, Elyza Amira, also wanted to join but didn’t because of the same reason and also because she is a prefect so she would be too tired with screaming at the top of her lungs to ask the crazy class to keep quiet, hardly eating anything every day because her recess is only 10 minutes and also because she would have to keep up with tons of homework every day and if she doesn’t, she will have to ‘retire’ from being prefect.

To be in this competition, we have to form a team and audition to see if we’re good enough to be in the competition. The first place winner gets to be on tv or something i think. Second and third place gets a ‘thing’ i don’t really care. Though I always wanted to escape from the ‘pasar malam’ and get peace which is helping t he teacher get his/her stuff to the teacher’s lounge. But as usual, my class teacher will always pick Avyinaeesh to bring her stuff to the teacher’s lounge. If its not Avyinaeesh, its Gunfighter (Daniel Gan), Justin Timberlake (Justin Lee, the class monitor) or Yvonne Chong, the assistant monitor.

Though I know Justin and Yvonne don’t get the ’slow walk’ relaxing because they have to remember a lot of stuff that our class teacher, Pn Wan Chek, tells them and she gets very upset if they forget that particular thing. That would be so annoying!

Well, anyways, I’m glad I didn’t join because they got tons of scoldings from the teachers! Lucky me!
